The executive vice president of the Punta Catalina Electric Generation Company (EGEPC), Celso Marranzini, explained that the reduction in billing, in the January-September period of last year compared to the same period in 2023, was due to the decrease in the price of mineral coal in the international market.
He highlighted that Punta Catalina’s billing is directly linked to the price of coal, the main input for energy generation.
He justified that the increase in the company’s personnel expenses. He does not believe, as Bernardo Castellanos said, that he can operate with 200 employees.
A document sent by Marranzini, prepared by the Commercial Management of Punta Catalina, highlights that according to the daily operation program prepared by the Coordinating Body, the two units of the generator were positioned yesterday in places 1 of 31 and 2 of 31 on the list. of merit of the available units.
He explains that this is associated with variable dispatch costs of 3.5230 cents per kilowatt/hour in unit 2 and 3.5259 cents per kilowatt/hour in unit one.
He highlighted that EGEPC’s operating expenses were reduced by US$51.4 million between January-October 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
