The Universidad del Norte signed an agreement with the Securities Market Self -regulator (AMV) of Colombia, through which it seeks to strengthen financial education in the Caribbean region. This alliance aims to improve the professional preparation of students in the stock market area, with more complete content and focused on the real needs of the financial sector.

Thus, with this agreement, the University of the North became the only institution in the Caribbean region and one of the six in the country with this type of alliance. María Clemencia Sierra Peñas, dean of the Uninorte Business School, highlighted the pride that this alliance for the University represented.
“The agreement will strengthen the commitment to quality training and the development of the Colombian stock market”Sierra said.

What will be the benefits of this alliance?
With this initiative, the curricula of the Business School increased from 63% to 80% in content suggested by the AMV. Students will also apply their knowledge in real market practices, which will provide advantages to compete in the work environment.
Adriana Cárdenas, AMV certification and information manager explained that this alliance helps to overcome an important challenge of the sector: finding professionals with adequate training. He stressed that financial markets have specific regulations that professionals must know and validate.

It should be noted that AMV is a private non -profit organization, which regulates since 2006 the activities of the stock market in Colombia. His work includes the supervision of practices of the sector, the protection of investors and the promotion of transparency in financial operations.
And the Uninorte Business School has been a reference since 1966, with more than 6000 graduates in business administration. It also offers programs such as international business, public accounting, several masters and a doctorate. About 2000 graduates are currently working in the financial sector.
