Marite prisoners released kidnapped executives

The violent group of prisoners from the “Francisco Delgado” New Men’s Center, released this Monday the directors of that establishment that they had held hostage since last Sunday night.

The aforementioned prison, formerly known as the Marite checkpoint, is located in the Mara municipality (San Rafael del Moján), on the Zulia border with Colombia.

The information was confirmed by Minister Mirelys Contreras who stressed that the violent situation was controlled.

The violent group kidnapped the director of the prison, Andreina Ferrer, as well as the deputy director Junior Uribe and four custodians. They demanded the transfer of several prisoners to other prisons.

In this sense, around 20 prisoners from Francisco Delgado were transferred to the “Nelson Mandela” New Men Training Center located in Maturín (Monagas) and to the Rodeo II Capital Region Judicial Confinement Center in Guatire (Miranda).

Minister Contreras explained in a statement that a day of telematic hearings is being coordinated with the justice administration agencies, through the Prison Security Technological System (Sitesep).

Likewise, it indicated that psychosocial examinations will be carried out through the telematic hearing system, for those deprived of liberty who opt for some measure of serving their sentence and any other procedural benefit.
