The political party People Firstled by former presidential candidate Marisol Pérez Tellois struggling to ensure its participation in the next 2026 General Elections. The organization has appealed to the National Election Jury (JNE) the decision of the Special Electoral Jury (JEE) that declared his presidential formula untimely and inadmissible.
The conflict began due to an alleged massive technical failure in the electoral platform provided by the JNE. Pérez Tello detailed
Perú21TV that the problem arose during the virtual presentation process of the candidacies.
As explained to this newspaper, the electoral platform required the use of a digital pen (Signet) to sign the 57 lists and documents, including the presidential plate. According to the candidate, this system “had no ink” and presented technical failures that affected 16 parties during the 14 hours of the final deadline.
Given the system crash, the Jury’s own technical staff instructed the parties to print all their documentation and present it physically before the closing of the parties’ table, which took place after 4:00 p.m.
Although the party was able to correct the presentation following the instructions of the technical staff, the JEE ruled that the plank was presented “extemporaneously” at 4:00 p.m.
Pérez Tello maintains that the JEE made an error by not considering that it was the technical failure attributable to the Jury that forced the party to resort to the physical presentation, which was authorized by the staff of the same electoral body.
“The JNE technical body said: the platform actually fell, the signature failed, the signature provider failed. If you mess everything up, fix it,” declared the candidate.
The party has presented the appeal to the JNE, attaching screenshots and audio of the staff’s instructions to prove that they complied with the presentation, and that the problem was beyond their control. The candidate hopes that the JNE will call a hearing this week and that the issue will be resolved by next Monday, thus allowing the party to appear on the official list of candidates (which, to date, amounts to 33).
