Born on March 28, 1936 in Arequipa, to the south of Peru, Vargas Llosa was one of the main figures of the so -called Latin American boom and author of fundamental works such as The city and dogs, Conversation in the cathedral, The Green House, and The goat party.
His literary career covered more than six decades and although he distinguished himself mainly in the narrative – and in particular, in the novel – he also extended to genres such as essay, theater and journalism.
Other well -known books are The puppies, Pantaleón and the Visitors, THE WAR OF THE END OF THE WORLD, Lituma in the Andes and Celta’s dream.
Throughout his career he won several of the most important awards of the letters, including the Nobel Prize for Literature, the Cervantes, the Prince of Asturias, the Romulo Gallegos and the planet.
In addition, he received numerous distinctions and doctorates Honoris Causaand was a member of the Royal Spanish Academy and the French Academy, of which he was the first Spanish language author to enter.
