The lieutenant governor of the department of Santa Cruz, Mario Aguilera, clarified that what corresponds to the arrest of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho in Chonchocoro is a government substitution, but not an interim. This is because, despite the fact that Camacho is in preventive detention, he continues to fulfill his functions as the first departmental authority.
In an interview conducted by EL DEBER Radio, Aguilera explained that he is in charge of directing the cabinets of the secretaries. “I make representations of the institution and in a certain way the work that an acting governor does, making up for the absence of Luis Fernando, who is temporarily detained,” he said.
Moreover, the lieutenant governor clarified that, “Actually, it is not an interim period that corresponds, because I was elected along with Luis Fernando. What corresponds is a government substitution, This is stipulated in our (Autonomous) Statute”.
According to Aguilera, Camacho is fulfilling his duties as governor, because he is issuing resolutions, decrees, “I have even received a note delegating a representation of the Interior”, he maintained in time to remark that this situation is notIt’s simple, “but we make efforts and hope that the citizen’s vote is respected.”
It should be remembered that this January 30 marked one month since the preventive detention of Governor Luis Fernando Camacho in Chonchocoro. He is accused of terrorism in the Coup I case. And although he has tried to revoke this determination on more than one occasion, they have all failed.
Even last week the governor’s wife, Fátima Jordán, denounced that the Government had installed a spy camera inside her husband’s cell. These statements were dismissed by the director of the Penitentiary Regime, Juan Carlos Limpias, who at the same time assured that they would investigate.
