The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, highlighted on social media the work of the President of the United States (USA), Joe Biden, with Brazil in defending democracy and combating climate change. The Democrat leaves the White House this Monday (20), when Republican Donald Trump takes over.
“It is necessary to recognize: [Biden] guided its action on climate with the need to face climate change, creating jobs and restoring scientific integrity as its guiding principle”, highlighted the minister.
For her, the changes in US domestic and foreign policies in the last four years have not only favored confronting the global problem, but also the US administration’s relations inside and outside the country.
In the United States, for example, Marina recalled that regulations such as the Inflation Reduction Act, known as IRA in its English acronym, and the Infrastructure Act were approved in Congress, with the support of Republican parliamentarians in Congress.
The latter is considered the largest financial package ever approved in the United States – worth US$400 billion – focusing on the transition to a low-carbon economy, infrastructure and green industrialization.

“The objective: to restructure the energy matrix, reduce the cost of energy, create jobs and increase the country’s energy security”, he highlighted.
The minister also highlighted advances in other federal regulations that deal with cutting methane and other pollutants.
Outside the country, Marina Silva recalled the USA’s return to Paris Agreementwhich brings together global actions in response to the threat of climate change, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and of which the USA has been a signatory since its creation in 2015.
The agreement had been abandoned by Trump, in his first government, and the reintegration of the North American country was made official at the beginning of the Biden government.
