MIAMI, United States. — On October 16, 1793, Marie Antoinette was executed by guillotine, who was queen consort of France and wife of the monarch Louis XVI.
Born in a golden cradle as María Antonia Josefa Juana de Habsburgo-Lorraine, better known under the name of María Antonieta de Austria, she was the daughter of Emperor Francisco I of Austria and Empress María Teresa de Austria.
She grew up a product of Austrian royalty and was just 14 years old when she married the then Duke of Berry, Louis XVI, who would later become King of France and Navarre.
For many a despot queen, for others a girl who grew up being a victim of the hustle and bustle of power, Marie Antoinette left no one indifferent.
