Maric requests the resignation of councilors who approved the law of unrestricted construction in La Paz

The president of the Municipal Council of La Paz, Yelka Maric, requested this Thursday the resignation of her colleagues who validated the approval of the ordinance that authorizes unrestricted construction in the city.

“We are extremely outraged to see how these councilors they misuse the vote of their constituents, therefore, we request the resignation of those councilors”, said the authority at a press conference.

Yesterday (Wednesday) that instance tested an ordinance that allows, among other aspects, unrestricted constructions higher than 40 floors and only in ten sectors of the city of La Paz. The mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias, announced that he will convene the La Paceñidad Assembly and will take legal action.

The controversial municipal ordinance 046/2022 called “Regulatory Adjustment of Updating for Growth and Densification for the Territorial Administration“was promulgated by the vice president of the mayor’s deliberative entity, Javier Escalier (MAS), in the absence of President Maric.

The press conference:

“Experts have already spoken repeatedly and extensively about the effects of this ordinance, which will cause the citizen and the municipality, in addition to all the harmful effects, does not consider aspects of health, education, equipment, basic services nor does it generate modernity”, warned the councilor.

The municipal ordinance No 046 was promulgated by the councilors Óscar Sogliano, Lucía Mamani, Lourdes Chambilla and Lucio Quispeall of ‘For the Common Good We Are People’, the majority bench, in addition to their colleagues, Javier Escalier and Pierre Chain, from MAS.
