MIAMI, United States. – Cuban-American congresswoman María Elvira Salazar described the Cuban Government as a “brutal dictatorship,” assured that the regime is “cornered” and linked this supposed situation to the management of the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

In another message on X, but this time from his account as a federal representative, Salazar wrote: “The Cuban regime does not govern: it submits. It does not protect: it represses. It does not offer a future: it confiscates it. Decades of communism have only produced shortages, blackouts and an unstoppable exodus, while the elite lives isolated from the suffering of the people. With maximum pressure from President Trump and Secretary Rubio, the regime’s room for maneuver is reduced more and more every day. Salazar’s statements were released the same day that Trump told reporters in Washington that the United States is holding talks with Havana and raised, without detailing, the possibility of a “friendly takeover” of Cuba.
“The Cuban government is talking to us, and they are in serious trouble,” Trump told reporters. “[Las autoridades cubanas] They don’t have money. “They have nothing now, but they are talking to us and maybe we will take Cuba in a friendly way,” he added.

In the same exchange with the press, the president linked the handling of the issue to his Secretary of State, the Cuban-American Marco Rubio, whom he described as involved “at a very high level.”
This Thursday it also emerged that advisors close to Rubio had met the day before with Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, grandson of Raúl Castro, within the framework of the annual summit of Caribbean leaders (CARICOM), held in Basseterre, capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
