Maria Corina Machado: “We won and everyone knows it”

María Corina Machado

MIAMI, United States. – In her first statements after Sunday’s presidential elections in Venezuela, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado declared candidate Edmundo González Urrutia the winner.

“Venezuela has a new president-elect and it is Edmundo González Urrutia. We won and everyone knows it. Everyone knows it,” The former deputy stated.

Machado also contradicted the electoral victory claimed by the regime. Nicolas Maduro“We have won in all sectors of the country, in all strata of the country, in all states of the country. In all of them, we won,” he said.

According to the opposition leader, the victory of the opposition was visible in the streets, where the participation of citizens was historic. “All of us who are here, the whole world, saw it in the streets. We know what happened today,” said Machado.

The opposition member explained that three exit polls, independent and autonomous, were carried out early in the morning, which showed “convincing and impressive” results, she said. “Throughout the day, we also monitored the turnout, hour by hour, with the quick counts. This is a historic turnout: the number of people who went to vote today,” she stressed.

Machado also mentioned that all the information coincided in that Edmundo González Urrutia had obtained 70% of the votes, while Nicolás Maduro had only reached 30%. “We have 100% of the minutes transmitted by the National Electoral Council (CNE), I don’t know where the others came from,” Machado pointed out. “That is the truth. And it is, my dear Venezuelans, the presidential election with the largest margin of victory in history,” he affirmed.

The opposition leader emphasized that both the regime and the international community are aware of what happened in Venezuela. “When I say that everyone knows what happened here, I am referring to the regime itself. They know what happened and what they intend to do. The entire international community knows this. All of it,” Machado emphasized. “Even those who were once allies know what happened in Venezuela and how people voted for change,” she added.

“But the most important thing is that we Venezuelans know this,” he said. “We had not only defeated them politically, morally and spiritually. Today we defeated them with the votes throughout Venezuela. That happened today,” he concluded.

Six hours after the closing of the polling stations, after midnight this Sunday, the president of the CNE, the Chavista militant Elvis Amoroso He said that with 80% of the tables counted, Maduro had obtained 51.2% of the votes compared to 44.2% for Edmundo González.[El resultado] “It is overwhelming and irreversible,” he said.

On the other hand, this Monday the prosecutor of the Venezuelan regime, Tarek William Saab, reported that his agency was investigating Machado for allegedly being involved in the “massive attack” (a hacking) which would have delayed the results of this Sunday’s presidential election, according to Chavismo.

At a press conferenceSaab said an investigation had been opened against the opposition leader and two others allegedly involved in the alleged cyber attack reported by Nicolas Maduro.
