MIAMI, United States. – Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado led a a message in audio format to the people of Venezuela on Tuesday. In the nearly six-and-a-half-minute recording, posted on her social media account X, Machado highlighted the achievements of the Venezuelan democratic movement following the presidential elections on July 28.
“It is very important that we all remember every day that our struggle to liberate Venezuela has several stages and that we have been successfully completing each one of them,” he said.
The opposition leader also highlighted national unity around fundamental values: “We unite a nation around common values which are family, decent work, dignity, truth and love,” she said.
He also highlighted the organization and effort put into defending the vote. “Without the regime detecting it, we set up the most formidable structure for defending the vote in our history,” he said. “We have just completed this feat. I insist, our great electoral triumph has the world speechless,” he added.
In her message, Machado reaffirmed the election results of July 28: “A truth has emerged that no one can change. Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia is the president-elect of Venezuela.”
The opposition leader also stressed the irreversibility of the Venezuelan democratic movement and the need to continue the fight. “Nobody said this would be easy. But let the world be very clear. There is no turning back. This is irreversible and it is until the end,” she said. “Now we are entering the fifth stage, defending that truth and asserting our unstoppable will,” she added.
“They want to intimidate us so that we don’t communicate, because if we are isolated we would be much weaker. And that is not going to happen. We will always find ways to stay connected, organized and active,” he said. “Fear is not going to paralyze us, we will, as we have done until now, always overcome it and we will not leave the streets.”
This Monday, Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia asked the National Armed Forces and the Venezuelan Police to respect the popular will expressed in the elections of July 28 and refrain from repressing the people.
In a statement dated August 5Both leaders stressed the legitimacy of the electoral process and denounced the repression by the Maduro regime.
“Venezuela and the entire world know that in the elections of July 28 our victory was overwhelming,” said Gonzalez and Machado. “From the most humble citizen, witness, polling station member, officer of the Armed Forces, police, to international organizations and governments, they know it.
