The meeting took place in one of the dining rooms of the presidential residence, where both had lunch.
The North American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, was also present.a strong ally of the Venezuelan democratic struggle.
The opposition leader greeted the Venezuelans who were gathered in front of the presidential residence before boarding a vehicle on the way to Congress.
The US describes Machado as the brave voice for Venezuelans
The meeting took place almost two weeks after the extraction of Nicolás Maduro in a US military surgical operation in Caracasand just hours after Trump announced that he spoke by phone with the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguezwhom he described as a “fantastic” person who obeys the demands of his administration.
As the meeting unfolded, the White House described Machado as “a remarkable and courageous voice” for many Venezuelans.
“I know the president was looking forward to this meeting and I was confident it would be a good, positive conversation. with Mrs. Machado, who is truly a remarkable and brave voice for many people in Venezuela. So the president hopes, obviously, to talk to her about the reality in the country,” White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said at a press conference.
