Santo Domingo.- The former Vice President of the Republic and presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Margarita Cedenoconsidered this Sunday that the actions carried out by the Government generate distrust and uncertainty because, according to his criteria, “President Luis Abinader promotes a power project, not a country project.”
Cedeño considered that a government should base the management of public policies on social and economic indicators prepared by national and international organizations and institutions.
Cedeño said that instead of being guided by the correct standards, the government is ignoring everything.
“Many of the decisions adopted by this government are generating uncertainty and distrust in the population, since the Dominican inhabitants feel forgotten in these difficult times,” said the political leader.
And he remarked: “Some of the latest decisions of President Luis Abinader have shown us that he does have a project for power, but he does not have a project for the country; the president is making it clear that he does not believe in the provision of public services in the hands of the State and is putting them in private hands”.
He gave as an example the willingness to offer through the Bank for Development and Exports (BANDEX) more than two billion pesos to strengthen the private health sector, when Public Health has so many challenges to face and so many things to solve.

Margarita Cedeño said that it is urgent to address efficient policies to cover mental health, among the consequences of the pandemic, cases of anxiety and depression have increased.
He also believes that the country has a significant shortage of nurses; shortage of drugs for catastrophic illnesses; discontinuity in the maintenance of hospitals and other deficiencies.

“I would not be surprised if they soon announce the privatization of the public emergency service 911, since the beginning of the Luis Abinader government this service, which has saved so many lives, is suffering a serious deterioration, attending emergencies late,” he said.
OMSA and zero rate
Referring to the programs that the Cedeño Government adopts in terms of passenger transport, he lamented what he defines as “demonstration of contempt for the public with the transport corridors of Greater Santo Domingo, where it has excluded the OMSA to make way for an alliance public-private”.
“The approval of the 0 tariff is another measure that goes against the general interests of the national agricultural sector. It seems that they have not learned anything, because what they experienced in the pandemic revealed the great importance of national production,” explained former Vice President Margarita Cedeño.
He recalled that when borders were closed, the Dominican Republic had supplies at all times.
“Food independence offers us a certainty of personal security and dignity, it also brings economic growth and sustainable development to rural communities.
The FAO has already warned about the prolonged escalation of prices in the country and the serious danger of food insecurity that we face in the face of the continuation of the crisis, not only due to the scarcity of basic products but also due to the lack of income of the most disadvantaged sectors. Without a country that produces there is no way to face inflation,” he added.
It meant that it is not possible to continue improvising, when what is just and ideal should be to stimulate national production.
