Lilian Margaret Bóveda de Mateu (46 years old), a teacher by profession for more than 24 years, professor, working mainly with young people in the field of Physics and Chemistry. She has also been a lawyer for more than 12 years. She is the mother of two children, Antonella, 20 years old, and Fabricio, 11 years old. She is married to Jorge Mateu. “I grew up and was spoiled in my Chaco area,” she says in her own words.
Why did you decide to run for council?
I took this commitment because I want to give people a different option. For us women it is not easy (to enter politics) because there is a perverse system installed in our society for our elections. Fighting against this costs a lot, I still assumed this responsibility with great courage because although I do not have the resources of those who are in the Government today to use it in campaigns, using resources from society and the infrastructure to carry out their campaigns, what I do have It is the desire to work and all the energy to give our people that option. If I am going to do the same as the others, what would be the reason for running for office? It would be just one of the bunch.
What do you offer to citizens?
Sometimes people tell me that I’m naive, that I’m not going to win. Or one of the people with whom I have talked told me that if I don’t win, you don’t lose, the ones who lose are the people. I assumed this and I can give a lot of myself because I know the needs. I know the sacrifice of arriving and getting ahead. That is the option for change that we want to give our department, to be a representative of President Hayes. We haven’t had a real representative for years. The department has been forgotten for 15 years, not only by the local authorities, but also by the Central Government. Progress cannot cross that bridge. We are so forgotten. I want to be the voice of President Hayes.
What are your projects?
In the area of education, as I am a teacher, there is a bill that I agreed to with my teaching colleagues. In addition, also in the general area of education, first in relation to my teaching colleagues. If I become a deputy, I would like to promote the implementation of the right to a pension for heirs. The only sector that does not have it is the teacher. Today the teacher dies and his minor children are left homeless. Of course, free university education is needed for young people. In the department we do not have faculties. We only have one national and two to three private ones that do not meet expectations. Another need is the lack of water, we want to promote a bill for the creation and improvement of an aqueduct.
How did you decide to be a candidate?
I entered to complete the list, that is the truth. They asked me three times and I told them that I was not looking for that, that I was only there to help and collaborate. The third time that the candidate for governor himself, Jaciento Noguera, insists on me again. And he tells me that I would love for him to accompany the project, I consulted with my family and they gave me their support. That’s the truth. So I accepted this challenge.
