Fernando Belauzarán, part of this movement that includes more than 10 organizations, called on opposition parties to unite to protest against overrepresentation in favor of Morena and its allies.
“We need the maximum unity of the entire opposition, the maximum social and partisan unity. Here in this great movement, not only are all citizens with our differences welcome, not only are all organizations with our differences welcome, but also all the two parties. Of course, the PAN, the PRI and MC if they want to join. We all fit in this great fight for democracy,” he said.
Former opposition presidential candidate Xóchitl Gálvez warned that if the overrepresentation of more than 8% for Morena, the PVEM and the PT is approved, legal instruments will be presented against the decision.
“At the appropriate time, when the INE announces the distribution of seats, we will all present a series of legal instruments to combat this decision. The councillors have time to read the constitution carefully: either it is a coalition or it is parties. If it is a coalition, then they will not be entitled to more than 8% of the over-representation,” he declared.
The PAN senator asked those in attendance, who numbered no more than 500 people, to be ready to fight “the legal battle.”
“I have called on them to be ready so that, once the theft is confirmed, we will fight legally. Rest assured, Morena and its allies did not win 75% of the seats. That is why we are going to fight and we are going to fight hard,” he added.
At the end of the event, Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo, part of this movement, handed over to the INE’s Official Records Office the document that the former president of the then IFE read and mentioned that the Pink Tide will go to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch.
It is estimated that the INE will meet on August 23 to approve the number of seats for proportional representation or “pluris” for the parties.
Xóchitl Gálvez participates in Marea Rosa and points out that if the INE confirms the overrepresentation of more than 8% of legislators for Morena and allies, she will give “the legal fight.”
