Defeated at the polls, the Venezuelan opposition has developed an agenda aimed at justifying a civil-military coup d’état. What is new, the emergence of an internal-external alliance that includes social democracy, liberals and conservatives, international organizations, various institutions and governments. Let’s stop now at The Great Patriotic Pole. The successes and setbacks suffered in this quarter of a century, from the triumph of Hugo Chávez to the re-election of Nicolás Maduro, show a complex process. Sum of wills, where the cohesion of the project is found in the degree of popular organization, the community forms of participation, in an agrarian reform, in the construction of a public park of social housing, in redistributive policies and a democratic proposal that deepens and whose endorsement is the internationally recognized electoral victories. The project has not only survived continuous external harassment, failed coups d’état, frustrated assassination attempts, it has increased its social support base. No less important is the institutionality founded on a robust Constitution that supports the socialist project. Therefore, it is a disservice to deny the existence of corrupt behavior, to remain silent on arbitrary decisions, or to ignore one’s own mistakes. The word given must be kept and, at this moment, the CNE is indebted to those of us who support, and will continue to do so, the Bolivarian revolution. We cannot encourage coup plots, much less delegitimize the June 28 victory of Nicolás Maduro Moros, under suspicion of fraud. The Bolivarian revolution is defended by its achievements, which are many, and does not require acolytes. For the same reason, not a step back.
