The visit is part of the commemoration of 200 years of bilateral relationship between Peru and the United States. On January 29, Bernie Navarro officially began his diplomatic mission in Peru after being declared United States ambassador to the country. “Peru is very important. Very rarely has a North American president appointed a political ambassador to Peru. My appointment by President Trump reflects the importance of the relationship with Peru. Bilateral work is a priority,” he stated.
This 2026 will commemorate 200 years of diplomatic relations between Peru and the United States, whose official anniversary will be celebrated on May 2, consolidating a relationship forged over two centuries.
The exchanges between both nations are reflected in emblematic spaces of cities. In the Peruvian case, Plaza Washington and Kennedy Park in Lima; while in the United States there is Yma Sumac Street in Los Angeles and Perú Boulevard in New Jersey.
