Santo Domingo.- The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubiohe concluded his Visit to the Dominican Republic This Thursday, after less than 24 hours in the country, where during his brief stay, he met with the Dominican President, Luis Abinader, to address various issues, including those related to Haiti, rare minerals and the fight against drug trafficking.
The departure of the high American official and its delegation took place at 6:46 p.m. local hours (22:46 GMT), from the International Airport of the Americas, the country’s main air terminal.
Rubio thus culminated his first international tour after his arrival at office, which took him to Panama, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.

In the Dominican capital, Rubio said that the problem of the crisis in Haiti is the responsibility “of his elites” and that his country will not ask the Dominican Republic to arrive at a migratory wave of Haitians.
He reiterated that in Haiti there will be stability opportunities when the actions of armed gangs are eliminated that operate in that nation and recalled that a law is studied in the United States Congress, which is one of the creators when he was a senator, to encourage foreign investment in Haiti, but that this will only be possible when the levels of insecurity.
“The first objective is to pacify and end the gangs (…) the United States will continue to support the future of Haiti, so that there may be industries in that country, so that there is economic stability, that is essential for its future,” he said.

Rubio also headed the confiscation of a plane from the Venezuelan government of Nicolás Maduro that he was in Dominican Republic retained by local authorities for a request from the United States.
He also described as “absurd” that American warships pay for travel legal processes that must follow Panamamaintaining the “expectations.”

Rubio was last weekend in Panama in the middle of the tensions for the threats of Donald Trump for “recovering” the Panama Canal For China’s supposed influence on the road and his complaints about the rates paid by his ships.
Before meeting with Abinader, Rubio held an encounter with the Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez.
