The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, confirmed on Thursday, August 14, the deployment of air and naval forces in the south of the Caribbean Sea to face the threats of Latin American drug cartels, as reported by the Reuters news agency.
Rubio offered a press conference in which he was addressed on the subject published by the earlier information agency. The official confirmed to NTN 24 the movement in the Caribbean Sea and spoke about Nicolás Maduro, whose administration again described as a “criminal organization.”
“It is a threat to the national security of the United States, they are groups that are operating with impunity in international waters, simply exporting to the United States,” he said, making a general reference on the designated criminal organizations.
On the operation in the Caribbean, Rubio said that they have the cooperation of many countries, although some “unfortunately, no.”

Trump’s intentions

The Trump Administration appointed the Sinaloa Cartel of Mexico and other drug traffickers bands, as well as the Venezuelan criminal group Train de Aragua, as global terrorist organizations in February, while Trump intensified the application of immigration laws against alleged members of bands.
The US army has already increased its air surveillance on Mexican drug cartels to collect information and determine the best way to counteract its activities. Trump had already offered to send US troops to Mexico to help fight drug trafficking, an offer that Mexico claims to have rejected.
