The director of Free Competition of the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco), Marco Carrizo, clarified this Tuesday on the homemade tests of Covid-19, noting that they see as positive the action of beginning to import, since there is an increase in cases and it is important that one can have self-control in family gatherings or companies.
He stressed that the entity could activate an operation on these home tests, however, “this is a market that is incipient, we have to wait how it will be regulated and we will be watching.”
He explained that, once that regulation is in place, the market and the operation of how it is entering will be observed; monitoring and price surveys, how many brands are there and how it behaves, to then make the recommendation.
Carrizo indicated that for this product it should also be taken into account that its prices should be visible to buyers, so that they can make comparisons.
Among other issues, he referred to Resolution No. 774 of October 7, 2019, which expanded the Basic Basket of Medicines (Cabamed) from 40 to 153 pharmaceutical products, indicating that this price information is available on the institution’s website. .
From this Monday, Acodeco carries out verification operations in private pharmacies so that they comply with the promotions they advertise and that the prices of this list of medicines are respected.
Private pharmacies are required to keep the information in a list in view of the consumer.
