Come “provocation”
The Secretary of Government of Mexico City, César Cravioto, considered that the riots, looting of self -service stores and different shops in the first picture of the capital during the march for the 57th anniversary of October 2, 1968, were attempts to provoke a repressive act by the authority.
“They stayed with the desire thanks to the endurance and the integrity of the police force that did not let in this provocation,” he said.
By offering a final balance of the march of October 2, which left a detained person and various civilians and injured police, as well as different shops affected by vandalism and prey, Cravioto said that of the more than 10,000 participants in the demonstration, most were going to pay tribute and remember the repression suffered by young people and students in 1968 by the Mexican State.
However, he considered that it was only a small group of people who caused disturbances and created a climate of violence during the demonstration.
“What does the fight of the young people of 68 have to do with the looting of a pharmacy? With the looting of a grocery store? What does the commemoration and struggle of hundreds of young people have to do with the looting of a jewelry store?” He questioned.
The capital official mentioned that, unlike other demonstrations, this Thursday had more violent characteristics, as Molotov bombs, hammers and different objects were used.
