Marcelo Melo and Alexander Zverev celebrated, on Saturday night (28), the men’s doubles title at the ATP 500 in Acapulco, Mexico. This was the first achievement for the Minas Gerais and the German together.
In the decision, Melo and Zverev defeated Austrian Alexander Erler and North American Robert Galloway by 2 sets to 0 (6/3 and 6/4) in 1h09min.
The achievement represented Melo’s 42nd career title in 80 finals.
Two-time champion at the Rio Open, on the 22nd of this month, Melo swapped clay for hard courts to win his second ATP 500 in less than a week, making it eight consecutive victories.
With the title in Acapulco, he will return to the top 50 of the rankingand should appear in 46th place in the next update.
