This was announced this Tuesday by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) in a publication on its Twitter account, where it reported that La Celeste will play on the 24th and 28th with Broli as interim technical director, since Diego Alonso ended his contract after the World Cup. of Qatar 2022 and for the moment the AUF did not inform who will occupy that position.
“In these days, the composition of the staff that will work with Broli in Asia will be defined,” the publication notes, accompanied by a photo of the coach of the Uruguayan U20 team, a team that reached second place in the South American U20 tournament played in Columbia weeks ago.
Two World Cup rivals in March
In the first of the March matches, Uruguay will again face one of the teams they faced in the last World Cup, in which they were eliminated in the first phase after adding four points out of nine possible.
One of these was harvested in the duel against South Korea, which ended tied 0-0.
On March 28, Uruguay will face Japan, which in the World Cup became one of the revelations after getting among the 16 best teams, after beating Germany and Spain 2-1.
In this way, La Celeste will begin to prepare for the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
