The rains that occurred on Saturday in Maracaibo and areas of Zulia caused flooding on roads, health centers and landslides.
The Maracaibo firefighters reported on the afternoon of Sunday, November 24, that, after the rains recorded on Saturday the 23rd in several areas of the Zulia state, they found the body of a missing person after being swept away by the flooding of the Fénix stream in the Zulia neighborhood. .
The body of Jhon Rodríguez, 19 years old, was found a few kilometers ahead of the iron bridge in the aforementioned area from where he jumped into the waters. Despite knowing how to swim, the young man could not reach the shore and drowned.
Given this fact, the mayor in charge of Maracaibo, Adrián Romero, called on citizen awareness to avoid risks when it rains.
“They jump off a bridge, the neighbors say that they do it on a daily basis, here what you have to have is prudence, calm and prevent situations like this from occurring,” he said, according to what was reported by Union Radio.

For several hours, a trough – which generated around 70 millimeters of water volume – affected several municipalities in Zulia, generating flooding and roads blocked by water. Infrastructures such as the Maracaibo University Hospital, next to Circunvalación 1 avenue, among others, were damaged by the rainfall.
In the Los Haticos 2 sector, a house collapsed due to the rains. The rains were also evident in other municipalities such as Cabimas, San Francisco and Jesús Enrique Lossada.
The west of the country has been affected by atmospheric instability and subsequent rainfall. In Lara, on November 22, it was reported that heavy rains were recorded in the town of Río Claro, causing flooding in the streets of the town, as well as flooding in homes in the area due to the overflowing of the surrounding streams.
