MAP holder justifies measure for disproportionate increase in payroll in public entities

Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Public Administration, Darío Castillo Lugo, justified this Friday the restriction of appointments and salary readjustment in public institutions, assuring that the measure seeks to avoid a disproportionate increase in payroll.

“The main objective of this circular is to restrict salary readjustments and increases, which in a generalized and disproportionate manner, in recent months, heads of public bodies and entities, have given themselves the task of requesting “no objection” from them. , without having cleared their respective payrolls,” he explained in a press release.

He clarified that the provision contained in circular DGP-SAL-2022-00183, of July 20, 2022, does not limit the entry of new personnel into the public administration to fill vacancies, replace active personnel.

He specified that these new appointments must be included in the current budget for this year and do not represent increases in the line of remuneration.

Lugo said that the circular does not affect the processes of contests and appointments in process. As well as the entry of new personnel to the organs and entities of the public administration, which have planned the installation and opening of new offices, branches and dependencies.
