With the presence of the governors and deputy governors of the 10 provinces of the Norte Grande, a new meeting of the Regional Council began this morning in Santiago del Estero, with the presence of the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, the Ministers of the Environment, Juan Cabandié, of Tourism, Matías Lammens, and of Public Works, Katapodis, among others.
“There are different thoughts and political space, but the 10 governors agreed to work so that the Argentine North can move forward”Manzur said at the opening of the meeting and added: “This is the Argentina we want, the Argentina that includes, that generates opportunities, that looks forward.”
In the first place, the chief of staff, together with the governors, deputy governors and national ministers, and the host president Gerardo Zamora, toured the Smart City Expo, which takes place in the Technological Node.

After that tour, the meeting began in the Forum, where they began to discuss different issues related to the tour they made in the United States last month and issues related to infrastructure works for the region.
The 14th ordinary assembly of the Norte Grande, made up of 10 governors from different political spaces, will analyze the financing of the bi-oceanic corridor in the budget project for 2023 that must be dealt with by Congress; and it is also carried out as part of the Smart City Congress, which takes place in Santiago.
Prior to this meeting, the officials toured the ‘Smart City’ Expo, an international event on smart and sustainable cities, in which specialists in urban planning issues from around the world and representatives of more than 500 municipalities and nearly 200 companies and public institutions and private, with the aim of “debating solutions to the challenges faced by all communities, in addition to promoting the sustainable, technological and social development of Latin American urban and rural territories”.
“Being here in the north seeing this international exhibition, undoubtedly deserves applause for Santiago del Estero and the North”Manzur said and highlighted “the potential of the North” of the country.

“Today the 10 governors meet to advance strategies to improve the quality of life of their people. This is for a better future, it is to generate inclusion and close gaps, ”she said.
On your side, Governor Zamora stressed that the Norte Grande is “a region that gave everything for the Homeland, for federalism” and said that from that region they are working “to break asymmetrical”.
In the first point of the agenda to be discussed, there is a balance of the mission carried out to the United States with the objective of “strengthening bilateral relations with that country and increasing exports and investments for the Great North.”
On that tour, the leaders held meetings with representatives of the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and also with the International Monetary Fund (IMF); They also shared a meeting with the main centers of opinion and more than 30 businessmen and investors grouped in the United States Chamber of Commerce.
In that sense, One of the main projects promoted by the governors has to do with obtaining financing for the Great North Bioceanic Corridor, either by the national government or by multilateral credit organizations.
This is how it appears in the 2023 Budget project in its article 86, “in order to prioritize investment projects that allow correcting historical asymmetries in terms of transport, energy, health, education, telecommunications, water and sewage infrastructure, among other”.
The agenda includes advancing with other initiatives that were previously discussed and will be worked on at this meeting, such as the 1,000 megabytes project
Other projects on the agenda of the 14th meeting of the Regional Council are: the design of the Air Connectivity Plan of the Norte Grande; the resolution to support the Federal Project for the Audiovisual Industry and the Federal Communications Network of the Norte Grande;
The agenda also contemplates moving forward with other initiatives that were previously discussed and will be worked on at this meeting, such as the 1,000 megabytes project, which proposes to increase the region’s electricity generation and distribution capacity by increasing an additional 1,000 megabytes through the construction of new plays.
Also the segmentation of electricity tariffs and other services for electro-dependent provinces will be discussed once again with national officials, as is the case of the entire northeast of Argentina (NEA).
Lastly, the governors of the Great North also anticipate their participation in the world agenda on the Environment, at COP27, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which will be held next month in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
The Norte Grande is made up of 10 provinces: Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, Corrientes, Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja, Salta and Jujuy; whose leaders correspond to different political spaces.
