SANTO DOMINGO.- Manuel Rivas, leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and former director of the Office, died this Monday Metropolitan Bus Services (OMSA).

Rivas died at home upon returning from his medical check-up where he was being treated for cancer, a disease for which he had rigorous treatment.

The information was confirmed by the PLD, an organization in which at the time of his death he held the status of member of the Central Committee.

“The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) regretfully confirms the death of Manuel Rivas, a leader of that organization with a long history of participation in political activity, always active in the Purple Party with the Yellow Star,” the political organization says in a statement.

The PLD highlighted Rivas’ contributions in the consolidation of that organization in the neighborhoods and communities belonging to the Santo Domingo Oeste municipality of the Santo Domingo province.
