Businessman Miguel Aleman Velasco was elected as the new chairman of the board of directors of the group Radiópolis Systemconcessionaire of 18 AM/FM radio stations and with coverage for 62% of the Mexican population in 22 states of the Mexican Republic.
The directory of Radiópolis System On Thursday night, the appointment of the businessman as the company’s new leader was approved, while the vice-presidency and other members of the board of directors who will occupy their positions permanently will be announced in the following days.
Miguel Aleman Velascobusinessman and former governor of the state of Veracruz, is part of the Coral Corporate. That company acquired in July 2019 the shareholding of Grupo Televisa in Radiópolisequivalent to 50% of the company, while the Spanish group PRISA owns 50% remaining. At the end of 2022, Radiópolis would present a new shareholding reconfiguration.
The businessman Miguel Alemán has also been president of the airline’s board of directors InterjetVice President and Executive Chairman of Televisa, and also a member of the Mexico-France High Level bilateral group. In Mexican politics, he held public office as governor of Veracruz, adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, senator, and was the founder of the National Conference of Governors. In 1953 he joined the Institutional Revolutionary Party.
In November 2022, the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) validated the new configuration of shareholders of the Radiópolis System, after almost five years in which various economic groups who participate in the company as investors vied for control of this company.
The telecommunications and broadcasting sector regulator confirmed that the Spanish group Prisa maintains 50% of Radiopolis and also greeted the incorporation of the group Barrister as a new shareholderwith 5% of the company, since its participation in Radiópolis means for the IFT the appearance of a new broadcasting concessionaire at a local and national level in Mexico.
The rest of the shareholding is distributed among the shareholders Real Credit Leasing (Creal) and the german familythrough Corporativo Coral, a company that in July 2019 bought its 50% of Radiópolis from Televisa in a deal for 1,248 million pesos of that year.
The shareholding reconfiguration in Radiópolis goes through the control of six radio concessionaire companieswhich in turn are the direct holders of the 18 AM/FM stations.
These are six companies that control 11 frequency modulated stations and five amplitude modulated stations, plus one in a continuity agreement.
The frequencies of Radiópolis in Mexico City – AM 730, 900 and 940 and FM 92.9, 96.9 and 101.7 – have valid concession titles until between July 3 and 4, 2036according to the Federal Institute of Telecommunications.
He IFT also informs that Televisa paid At the time, 89 million 209,734 pesos in August 2017 for the renewal of the titles of those six stations in the capital; 22.6 million pesos per FM station and 7.5 million per AM frequency, reference data that also determined the sale of its 50% to Coral in 2019.
In June of that same year, the former finance director of Radiópolis, Luis Maldonado Palomares, assumed the general managementl of that radio broadcasting company that operates six stations in Mexico City and another eleven in the rest of the Republic.
Maldonado Palomares was vice president of finance and administration of the Radiópolis System for twenty years. He had also been general manager of business planning and analysis for Televisa Group and financial director of the pay television system Sky and further back in time, he held the corporate management of the extinct telephone company iusacell.
