This Sunday, the leader of the ultra-conservative Cabildo Abierto party, Guido Manini Ríos, once again attacked gender equality and those motivated by the rights of LGBTIQ + people, assuring once again that they are a “gender ideology” that “ it fragments the family.

In a video published by Telemundo, the lobbyist senator expressed that his political force is “a different party,” which “dares to put issues on the table that others do not dare.”

“He does it because he does not have any kind of commitment, his hands are not tied. You owe nothing to anyone. CA dares to question the scandalous usury interest charged to Uruguayans and presents a bill to change that reality, “said the retired general and right-wing politician.

Regarding what he calls “gender ideology”, he argued: “It is an ideology that confronts the man with the woman, the son with the father. It is an ideology that came to fragment what was left to fragment, after having fragmented society between rich and poor, between exploited and exploiters ”.

And he added: “Now the fragmentation comes in the family itself. Cabildo Abierto is the only party that dares to denounce it and by doing so it exposes itself to a media bulldozer that puts any label on us for the sole fact of denouncing what we all know is true. “

Against the Broad Front

He also fired at the Broad Front, treating it as “a servile, disloyal, dirty opposition that those who are necessarily against it do to us because it was they who led to this social deterioration that we are experiencing.” “We are not bothered by what the Broad Front or trade unionists who are dedicated to anything but the true defense of jobs tell us. It doesn’t bother us, what sometimes bothers us is that those on our side don’t do what they have to do to impose the majority, ”he snapped.

“There are laws that they put in place throughout 15 years of government (…) that lead to dividing our society. To great injustices. Laws that led to the ignorance of the pronouncement of the Uruguayan people twice at the polls. They took out by the circumstantial majority of their votes and today this coalition that is in the government knows perfectly well the injustice of those laws and the dire consequences they had on our society. Due to lukewarmness or because they are politically correct, they do not dare to cross a certain line ”.
