Manini denied being a settler again and pointed against INC Legal

Manini

The senator and leader of Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos, once again denied that he, his wife, Minister Irene Moreira and his father-in-law, are or ever were settlers of the National Colonization Institute (INC). The legislator’s words took place after it came to light that the Legal Department of said entity ensured that the three.

In this regard, the parliamentarian questioned the report and assured that those who wrote them respond to the director of the Broad Front of the institute, Andrés Bertecherre.

In a press conference from Parliament, the senator read the conclusions of a report written by the 5th grade professor of agrarian law, Enrique Guerra. Said document maintains that the three involved are not settlers and that the Legal report “omits key information.”

“It shows it (the war report) convincingly. There is no doubt about the veracity and forcefulness of the arguments expressed in that writing. Neither my father-in-law, nor my wife, nor I were settlers,” said Manino.

“In more than 50 years since the purchase by Mr. Roque Moreira in a public tender, there has never been any action (by the INC) that showed that they even thought that this property had a connection to the Institute, never in more than half century,” he added.

“Colonization Law responds to Berterreche. He was never going to contradict him. It was evident that he was going to go along the same line, ”Manini assured.

How did they not realize it before, questions Manini

“The question that arises is: Colonization did not realize that there were military personnel in activity who were settlers? Didn’t you realize a few years ago that the commander in chief of the Army (himself) was a settler? Berterreche himself, who until recently was president of Colonization, didn’t he know at the time that the commander in chief was a colonist? Isn’t it surprising that a week before the referendum all this was made public?”, reflected the lobbyist.

“I am convinced that we are facing a political maneuver that seeks to discredit, discredit, misrepresent, sow doubt, deceive,” he assured.

The explanation of war

The legislator read the conclusions of the report written by Guerra. There it is established that in 1970 Colonization bought fields not suitable for that purpose, for which it “sold them to the highest bidder.”

Likewise, he indicated that being an active soldier at that time, his father-in-law could not be a colonist, because the INC could not sell to a military man.

Later, the Artigas land was divided up and sold to public limited companies; one of these was bought by Manini himself, according to him, in 1994, with definitive rights since 1997.
