Manchester City, with 731 million euros, and Real Madrid, with 714, are the two clubs that billed the most in the 2021/2022 season, the start of the recovery after the coronavirus pandemic, according to the report ‘Deloitte Football Money League’.
Concha Iglesias, partner in charge of Sports at Deloitte Spain, highlights the importance of returning revenue on match day when the public returns.
The 20 European football clubs with the highest volume of revenue billed, as a whole, 9,200 million euros in the 2021/22 season, 13% more than the 8,200 million of the previous year due to the return of the fans.
An increase that will be even greater in the future thanks to some stadiums whose reforms he ponders, with the example of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“The projects that the main clubs have underway, such as the Nuevo Bernabéu Stadium or Espai Barça, will make it possible to attract additional income through a business model that will allow their activity to be maximized 365 days a year,” said Concha Iglesias in a release.
In addition, for the first time, the aforementioned study includes the income of the main European women’s football clubs, with Barcelona leading the table with 7.7 million euros.
