The rains recorded on the night of Sunday, December 29, caused serious damage in areas surrounding the Eastern channel, in Managua, especially in homes in the El Paraisito, El Dorado and El Edén sectors.
Some homes in the area of El Paraisito and El Edén, according to photographs circulating on social networks, were the most affected, especially because in that area the space of the Eastern channel has been excavated and expanded, as part of the expansion project of the Pista Juan Pablo II, now known as Pista Héroes de la Insurreccion.
In those sections affected by the overflow of the Eastern channel, where it has not yet been covered with concrete, the currents undermined the land of the homes and, according to the photographs that were published on social networks, at least two properties were seriously affected; One partially collapsed the house and another had part of its perimeter wall detached.
In the María Auxiliadora 2, Ciudad Jardín and Carlos Marx neighborhoods, some flooding caused by the rains was also reported on social networks, which washed away the garbage that was deposited in unauthorized places, obstructing the capital’s storm drainage.
