Managua Mayor's Office prohibits parking in two sections of the expansion of the Juan Pablo II Highway

The Mayor’s Office of Managua, together with the MECO-LLANSA and TYPSA Cal y Mayor consortiums, through social networks, published the prohibition of parking vehicles on the concrete that they have already located in sections one and four of the runway expansion project. «The residents and users of the road between the Central Bank of Nicaragua and the vicinity of the El Periodista Roundabout, corresponding to section one, are informed that as of the issuance of this statement, it is prohibited to park vehicles on the concrete of the road. track, and in the streets defined as detours, in order to guarantee traffic flow,” the commune indicated in a letter that it released this weekend through its social networks.

He argued that the measure aims to preserve the road infrastructure, guarantee the safety of all users and allow the free transit of construction equipment from the MECO-LLANSA Consortium, essential to guarantee the progress and completion of the works on this section of the project”.

Both the commune of Managua and the consortiums in charge of the expansion and supervision of the Juan Pablo II Track, in the letter, specified that “they are not responsible for accidental damage caused by heavy machinery to vehicles parked in areas of the Track, which are still “They are not authorized for this use.”

Parking is prohibited between El Edén and La Robelo

Last week, the municipality of Managua and these consortiums also prohibited parking vehicles on the concrete of the Juan Pablo II Highway from the El Edén Bridge to the vicinity of La Robelo, in section four of the expansion.

In addition, they asked residents of the capital to “use the adjacent streets located to the east of their homes or commercial establishments” to locate their vehicles.

The Juan Pablo Runway expansion project officially began in August 2023 in sections one and four. Section number one covers 2.6 kilometers from the 7 South sector to the Julio Martínez traffic lights; and section four runs 2.7 kilometers from the El Riguero traffic lights to La Robelo, on Carretera Norte.

The work, according to information shared last year by the Managua Mayor’s Office, has an estimated cost of more than 200 million dollars and covers four sections, which together add up to 9.6 kilometers of road, which will have between ten and eight lanes, five lanes. unevenness and two bridges.
