The Public Opinion Monitor of Option Consultants presented this March 1 its most recent survey conducted between February 17 and 26 to people over 18 years of age residing in Uruguay, and found that 20% of the 900 respondents see as “ very good” the management of President Luis Lacalle Pou, while 31% describe it as “good”.

24% responded that the administration of the coalitionist president is “neither good nor bad.”

On the other hand, a group of 23% sees the government with bad eyes: 14% answered that it was “bad” and 9% said that it has been “very bad”. 2% stated that “they do not know or do not respond”.

Error range: In the case of the proportions of the variables of interest in this report, the maximum margin of error is +/-3.6% for a confidence level of 95% (for analysis of the entire sample), estimated taking into account the design sample and the weighting methodology implemented.

Drop in approval

The Option measurement has shown a downward evolution in the approval of the president in two years: in the second quarter of 2020 it had 62% support, which fell to 61% in the third and 60% in the fourth.

Already in the first quarter of 2021, the positive view of those surveyed was located at 52%, which rose to 55% in the second quarter but fell sharply to 45% in the third, recovering to 51% in the fourth.

Thus, in the first quarter of 2022 it is positioned at 51%.
