SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS. –The Collegiate Court of the Criminal Chamber of the First Instance Court of this Judicial District sentenced a man who in 2012 raped a minor to 20 years in prison.
The man, whose name is omitted to protect the rights of the then minor, must also pay a fine of one hundred thousand pesos.
The court made up of judges Haydeliza Ramírez Henríquez, Esmirna Antonia Ortega Ventura and Milagros de Los Ángeles Carmona Camarena, handed down a sentence against the perpetrator, who must serve the sentence at the San Pedro de Macorís Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

The Public Ministry, represented by the prosecutor Pedro Adael Garcia de Pena, presented to the court the testimonial, expert and documentary evidence that demonstrated that the defendant today violated article 331 of the Dominican Penal Code, to the detriment of the then minor.
The incident occurred in the San Pedro de Macorís province, in 2012 and was denounced by the mother of the victim in 2016, when she found out about the rape.
