Santo Domingo.– A court imposed a 20 year sentence of prison to a man to whom it was demonstrated culpability in murder another who was stabbed in the chest, in an event that occurred in March 2025, in the Mendoza sector of Santo Domingo Este. This sentence was established by accepting the request of the Public Ministry (MP).
The sentence was imposed on Roberto Castro Madrigal for the murder of Eduard Araujo Calzado.
The file, prepared by the investigative prosecutor Jesús Manuel Núñez, reveals that the events occurred on March 7, 2025, when Castro Madrigal took advantage of the fact that Araujo Calzado was getting off a motoconcho upon arriving at his house, located on 42nd Street, almost on the corner of Duarte, in the Mendoza sector of Santo Domingo Este, and, in a state of defenselessness, attacked him with a knife, managing to stab him in the chest.

The MP represented by the trial prosecutor Ignacio Rojas, showed the court sufficient elements of evidence that demonstrate the criminal responsibility of the convicted man, who with his actions violated the provisions of articles 295, 296, 297, 302 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code and articles 83 and 86 of Law 631-16, on the Control and Regulation of Weapons and Related Materials.
By decision of the judges of the First Collegiate Court, Elizabeth Esperanza Rodríguez Espinal, Flor E. Batista Polo and José Leonel Asencio Quezada, the defendant must serve his sentence at the Najayo Hombres Correction and Rehabilitation Center.
