Man who burned his partner inside a taxi was sentenced to 34 years in prison

The oral trial carried out on the morning of this Monday, July 4, by the homicide and femicide section of the West Panama prosecutor’s office against a man who killed his partner by setting fire to the taxi-type vehicle where she was found resulted in a sentence of 34 years in prison for the perpetrator.
This is the case of Karen Velázquez, a woman who was burned to death on May 9, 2020 in the Nuevo Emperador district of Arraiján, all this at the hands of her partner.
The man was convicted of the crime of femicide and against collective security to the detriment of his ex-partner.
The Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor of West Panama, Sherly Barría, assured that for this heinous act they requested the conviction.
Meanwhile, the lawyer Zuki Yard, stressed that the way and viciousness in how things happened did not allow a sentence agreement to be given but rather a fair and adequate sentence was issued, since this woman lost her life despite having the protection tickets that should have given him a guarantee that they would not attempt against his life.
