David Arango Villada was arrested after inflicting multiple stab wounds on his mother and prohibiting her from asking for help.
A guarantee control judge imposed a security measure in the prison against David Arango Villada, identified as the alleged perpetrator of a violent attack against his own mother in the municipality of Itagüí, Antioquia. The Attorney General’s Office charged him with the crime of attempted aggravated homicide, charges that the defendant did not accept.

The facts: a surprise attack
The event occurred on December 30, 2025 in a home in the Triana neighborhood. According to the investigation led by a prosecutor from the Immediate Reaction Unit (URI), the accused unexpectedly entered the room of his 75-year-old mother through a window. Once inside, the man hit her in the face, threw her to the ground and, with a sharp weapon, inflicted multiple injuries on her chest, back and thorax.
Kidnapping and miraculous escape
The court report reveals that, while attacking her, the defendant threatened to kill the victim and prevented her from leaving the room to seek help. However, due to her son’s carelessness, the older adult managed to hide the knife and escape from the house to ask the neighbors for help.
Status of the victim and judicialization
The woman was rushed to a healthcare center, where doctors managed to stabilize her. Due to the severity of his injuries, he received a 20-day medical-legal disability.
Although David Arango Villada did not accept his responsibility for the events during the concentrated hearings, the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office was sufficient for the judge to order his immediate confinement in a prison facility, considering the danger he represents for his mother and society.
