The First Collegiate Court of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the National District sentenced citizen Manuel de Jesús Medina Cuevas to two years of minor imprisonment, for falsification of labels to the detriment of the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII).
The defendant was found guilty of manufacturing, distributing and marketing false labels through the social network Facebook, for the sum of RD$1,000.00 Dominican pesos.

This falsification of public documents is typified in articles 147 and 148, of the Dominican Penal Code and article 242 paragraph 1 of the Tax Code.
In addition, Medina was sentenced in the civil aspect to pay compensation of RD$50,000 in profit of the DGII for damages caused in the sale of false labels
The illicit activity of Manuel de Jesús Medina Cuevas had been reported by the National Police to the Public Ministry, for this reason the DGII filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office of the National District against the accused, thereby initiating a investigation which led to his arrest and subjugation in October 2023.

The court ruled that the sentence that Medina Cuevas must serve be suspendedsubject to carrying out 20 hours of community work.
It is also ordered that the accused must attend talks given by the Criminal Execution Judge of the National District, as well as must refrain from abuse in the consumption of beverages. alcoholic and reside at the address provided in court and indicated in the sentence.
If you do not comply with agreedmust fully serve the entire suspended sentence.
It is recalled that there have recently been similar sentences against citizens who have dedicated themselves to committing these illegal acts.
