The Public ministry obtained a 20-year prison sentence against a man who sexually abused an eight-year-old girl in this province.
Judges Lucrecia Rodríguez, Julissa Candelario and Juana Patricia Silverio, of the first Collegiate Court of La Vega, imposed the sentence on Radhamés Acosta Bruno, who must serve it at the El Pinito Correction and Rehabilitation Center in this town.
The court also sentenced the minor’s mother to five years in prison, for complicity, whose name is omitted to protect the victim’s privacy.
In the accusatory file, the La Vega Prosecutor’s Office He points out that on several occasions the man touched the girl inappropriately and that she reported it to her mother, who paid no attention to her.

The Comprehensive Care Unit for Gender Violence, Domestic Violence and Sexual Crimes of La Vega opened an investigation, based on a complaint, and proceeded to arrest both defendants on August 10, 2020, by court order.
The fiscal head of this judicial district, Aura Luz García Martínez, explained that in the process the Public Ministry presented sufficient evidence to support the accusation.
Before the court, prosecutor Yamilka de la Cruz demonstrated the violations of various articles of the Dominican Penal Code and the Code for the Protection and Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents (Law 136-03).
