Santo Domingo Oeste, DR.– A Santo Domingo Oeste court sentenced Ardo Anthonelly Mercado Hernández to 20 years in prison, after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in an event that occurred in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos.
The sentence must be served in the Najayo Men’s Correction and Rehabilitation Centeras ordered by the court made up of judges Ana Miledis Taveras, Leonarda Quezada and Clara Yoselin Rivera.
The court established that the defendant violated provisions of the Dominican Penal Code and the Law 136-03which protects the fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
During the trial, the Public Ministry presented testimonial, expert and documentary evidence, including the victim’s statement and a medical evaluation that certified the assault, elements that supported the conviction..
