The Oral Criminal Court of Punta Arenas, in the Magallanes region, sentenced a man to 17 years in prison for the crimes of rape and child sexual abuse against his daughters. The events occurred between 2012 and 2018 in Puerto Natales.
The defendant was found guilty of touching his stepdaughter’s body with sexual connotations between the ages of 8 and 14, as well as sexually abusing and raping another of his daughters, who at that time was between 7 and 11 years old. The minor victim of the rape received a sexual attack with similar characteristics between 2016 and 2018.
The Public Ministry had requested a sentence of 35 years in prison for the defendant: 20 years for the crime of rape and 15 years for sexual abuse. However, the magistrate in charge of the case acquitted the subject of the crime of repeated improper rape against one of the victims.
The convicted person has been in pretrial detention since March 4, 2022, which will be considered as payment for serving the sentence. Till the date, He has served 355 days in prison.
