Man sentenced for electrical fraud

The Court of First Instance of the province of Santo Domingo sentenced Winston Danaure Sanchez Reyesowner and manager of local commercial winsa, to three years of suspended prison and the payment of 1.8 million pesos for committing electrical fraud against the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) and the Dominican State.

The judgment was issued by the court after the Public Ministrythrough the Deputy Attorney General’s Office for the Electrical System (pay), demonstrated that the accused violated articles 125 literal E; 125-2 and 125-2 literal A, paragraph 3; of the General Electricity Law No. 125-01, modified by Law 186-07, dated August 6, 2007.

The events occurred on February 9, 2021, when prosecutors of the Deputy Attorney General’s Office for the Electrical System went to the aforementioned place and upon supervising they found a autoconnectionmeter off, line A= 3.7 amperes, line B= 4.5 amperes and line C= 0.0 amperes; MTØ (medium voltage) of 12,400 volts three-phase and 7,200 from line to neutral.

Sánchez Reyes, owner and manager of the local commercial winsa SA, located in Eliza Bodden, Fernández Oriental sector, Santo Domingo Este municipality, will serve the suspended prison term in the La Victoria National Penitentiary.
