At night, the Mexico City Sexual Crimes Prosecutor’s Office reported that the man had already been arrested for having been caught in flagrante delicto.
A day later, on Wednesday, November 5, Sheinbaum reported that he had filed a formal complaint against Uriel, who was transferred to the North Prison and is accused of harassing at least two other women.
This Friday, he was even linked to proceedings for sexual abuse committed against one of those women, who was also harassed in the streets of the Historic Center. At that time, it was expected that the investigation file opened by the president’s complaint would be completed.
The hearing against the man for the attack on Sheinbaum took place this Saturday. So in less than 24 hours he was linked to the process for the second time.
The control judge determined that Uriel will remain in preventive detention in the Reclusorio Norte as a precautionary measure. He also assigned a period of two months to conclude the complementary investigation.
After the harassment suffered, Sheinbaum launched a Comprehensive Plan against Sexual Abuse. The initiative seeks to standardize this crime at the national level, promote complaints and raise awareness, through a campaign, about violence against women.
