A 35-year-old man killed three relatives this Saturday in Canelones. These are his mother (64 years old) and his uncles (a 61-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man), whom he killed with an ax and a knife, reported the Canary Islands Police Headquarters.
The murderer tried to escape so the police shot him with a non-lethal weapon and thus managed to stop him. The event, which occurred on a farm in Las Piedras, is in charge of the prosecutor Valentina Sánchez.
The detained man will undergo a psychiatric examination to find out if he is attributable, since he has mental health problems. He is currently being treated at the local hospital although guarded by the police, Police Chief Víctor Trezza said at a press conference. Although he had no criminal record, in 2019 he had an “imbalance” in which the police had to act, according to the officer.
