Man found guilty of mistreating two elderly people

Marcos Antonio Lee was unanimously found guilty for the crime of mistreatment of the elderly, to the detriment of a couple of 70 and 65 years of age.

According to the Oral Trial Section of the San Miguelito Regional Prosecutor’s Office, this is the first hearing that is held for the crime of abuse of the elderly, before the San Miguelito Trial Court.

The prosecutors managed to prove the criminal responsibility of the defendant, proving their theory of the case, with the relief of testimonial, expert and documentary evidence.

The hearing took place on January 11 and 12, 2022 and the sentence will be read on January 25, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.

The event, for which this man was convicted, occurred on April 12, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., in Los Andes No.2, Omar Torrijos district, when the sentenced man in the middle of a discussion over a projection placed In the street, he began to yell at the couple and later hit the elderly man and his partner.

When the old man crouched down, he slipped, so the attacker took advantage of hitting him several times; The victim’s wife tried to defend her partner by taking a block from her, but the defendant hit her with his fist on her left shoulder, causing the woman to fall on her back and also be injured.
