Police thought they were ending an investigation after 18 years, after arresting a 50-year-old man named Gilberto Flores. He himself, in a round of drinks, affirmed that he committed an act that tormented him in the area where Felicita had died, in the department of Yaguarón in 2004.
These comments made their way to police who arrested the man on Tuesday. A fingerprint survey was done with negative results. The perpetrator of the crime produced years ago is Fredy Florenciano Brítez.
Flores was delayed and taken to the police station. The real perpetrator of the crime should currently be 39 years old, while the detainee was already 50 years old.
Felicita had 11 siblings and was sent to live with her aunt. The little girl was exploited at work, she was dedicated to selling fruit and other products on the street. On May 31, 2004, she was found dead on the Yaguarón hill in a crime produced with great violence.
