In the Atlantic, for more than a year, there has been talk of the start of the tourism mega-project: the Malecón del Mar, a project that promises to attract more visitors and thus potentiate the economy of Puerto Colombia.

The Malecón del Mar contemplates the execution of four large infrastructure works worth $140,000 million, represented on the pier, the plaza, the Sazón Atlántico Market, the beach planning and the International Gastronomic Center.
Now after a long wait, the number 1 urban curator gave the green light for the start of construction of phase 1 of the project, which is called ‘International Gastronomic Tourist Center’.
“It is in a 5,310 square meter area granted by DIMAR, framed between Calle 1E and the Malecón between Carreras 5 and 7, with a built area of 6,797 square meters, which consists of three levels and a mezzanine, with areas large meeting rooms, administrative area, technical area, six islands and 41 commercial premises”, assured Dennys Valverde Sánchez, urban curator number 1 of Puerto Colombia.

The curator also pointed out that this infrastructure will be inspired by unique architecture to give an experience.
“All this in a building inspired by naval architecture that is articulated with the pier, evoking the times of entry, for this reason, of immigrants and therefore we can enjoy Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Spanish food,” said Valverde.
The budget for phase 1 amounts to $23,000 million pesos, which are expected to be executed in a period of approximately 12 months.. For this, the issued license is valid for 36 months, extendable for 12 months.
The International Gastronomic Tourist Center consists of a building made up of three levels, a mezzanine and a terrace.
According to the Government of the Atlantic, this project will generate more than 1,700 direct and indirect jobs “but the tourism impact it will generate in the municipality and therefore the accessory developments in hotels, construction and commerce is relevant,” said Valverde.
Works are expected to start in the second week of September in the sector.
“The International Gastronomic Center is a space where, through gastronomy, the multiculturalism that entered the country through Puerto Colombia and that continues to this day in local flavors will be shown,” said Elsa Noguera, governor of the Atlantic.

The works of the Malecón del Mar seek to provide a new architectural milestone as an urban spaceto promote the development of new activities for the inhabitants of the municipality of Puerto Colombia and encourage commercial and tourist progress with the arrival of visitors.
The spaces that the International Gastronomic Center will have
On the lower level is the fire-fighting network tank, drinking water tanks, pump room, garbage room, electrical room, electrical meter room, warehouse, power plant and circulations.
At level 1, it will have an area of 3,499.12 square meters with a shopping area with two islands, 29 commercial premises and a common area with restaurant terraces, bathrooms and children’s areas of 169.70 m2. The mezzanine will have an area of 121.63 m2, destined for the administrative area, that is, it will have reception, networks, meeting room, management, bathrooms and circulations.
Finally, level 2 will have an area of 2,777.9 m2, with a shopping area with four islands and 14 shops and a common area with restaurants.
