The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, and the mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, signed a collaboration agreement to build a sub-police station in the Buenos Aires resort and a detachment of the Fire Department in La Juanita, both located in the aforementioned department. . Heber announced that, in addition, security will be reinforced with new troops, patrol cars and video surveillance cameras.
Heber emphasized, after the signing, which took place this Friday the 15th at the headquarters of the Fernandina administration, that it is outrageous to see state properties without use, because they are part of the town and must be functional. “The police station in Buenos Aires and the detachment in La Juanita are complaints from the neighbors. So it’s important for us to do that,” he said.
The Secretary of State reported that 50 police officers, 15 patrol cars and 300 video surveillance cameras will be incorporated to strengthen security in Maldonado, which he considered essential for the country.
On the occasion, he highlighted that the closure of various drug outlets in that department contributed to the drop in crime, by 23%, in the surrounding areas. “We are above the fight against crime,” he assured.
He announced that, together with the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, on Wednesday the 20th, the expansion of the video surveillance camera system from Maldonado will be signed with the police chiefs of Maldonado, Rocha and Canelones and the national director of the Unified Command Center. towards Rocha and Canelones.
“It will imply a higher level of security with the gaze from the cameras,” Heber said.
Antía highlighted the work carried out with the Ministry of the Interior to take intelligent measures that respond to the concerns of the population.
